Rachel Weisz stars in Terence Rattigan’s ‘The Deep Blue’ directed by Terence Davies<\/p><\/div>\n

Rachel Weisz will open and close the 55th BFI London Film Festival as she stars in \u201cThe Deep Blue Sea\u201d, Terence Davies\u2019 film of the Terence Rattigan play, which will screen on the final night on Oct. 27. The film will have its World Premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Sept. 11.<\/p>\n

The festival already announced that \u201c360\u201d, in which Weisz stars with Jude Law and Anthony Hopkins, will open proceedings on Oct. 12.<\/p>\n

Set in 1950s England, \u201cThe Deep Blue Sea\u201d tells of a well-to-do wife (Weisz) of a prominent judge (Simon Russell Beale) who creates a scandal when she falls in love and runs off with a young air force pilot (Tom Hiddleston).<\/p>\n

Davies, whose most recent feature film was \u201cThe House of Mirth\u201d (2000), said that to get into the festival at all was \u201cbliss\u201d but to have the closing night spot was \u201csheer heaven!\u201d<\/p>\n

Festival Artistic Director Sandra Hebron called the film an \u201cexquisite new feature from one of our most cherished directors\u201d. She said, \u201cTerence Davies is a filmmaker who the BFI has supported from the very beginnings of his career, and in Terence Rattigan’s centenary year, this beautifully directed and acted film is the perfect closing night film.\u201d<\/p>\n
