Entertainment’s \u201cThe Artist\u201d and 20th Century Fox’s \u201cThe Descendants\u201d were the big winners at the Golden Globes last night. \u201cThe Artist\u201d took three awards including best comedy or musical, while \u201cThe Descendants\u201d won two including best drama.<\/p>\n

The awards presented on Sunday in Los Angeles saw \u201cThe Artist\u201d star Jean Dujardin pick up the prize for best actor in a comedy and musical, and the film\u2019s composer Ludovic Bource win for best score.<\/p>\n

George Clooney was named best actor in a drama for \u201cThe Descendants\u201d, which 20th Century Fox will release in UK cinemas on Jan. 27.<\/p>\n

Martin Scorsese won as best director for \u201cHugo\u201d, to be released on DVD and Blu-ray by Entertainment in Video, which also has \u201cMy Week With Marilyn\u201d, for which Michelle Williams was honoured as best actress in a comedy or musical for her performance as Marilyn Monroe.<\/p>\n

Meryl Streep won as best actress in a drama for her performance as Margaret Thatcher in \u201cThe Iron Lady\u201d, which Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release.<\/p>\n

Woody Allen picked up the screenplay award for his comedy \u201cMidnight In Paris\u201d while Christopher Plummer was named best supporting actor for \u201cBeginners\u201d. Both are on Universal Pictures UK.<\/p>\n

Paramount Home Entertainment will release Steven Spielberg\u2019s \u201cThe Adventures Of Tintin\u201d, which won the award for best animated feature and Disney has \u201cThe Help\u201d, for which Octavia Spencer was named best supporting actress.<\/p>\n

StudioCanal will release \u201cW.E.\u201d, for which the film\u2019s director Madonna won for best original song for \u201cMasterpiece\u201d co-written by Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry.<\/p>\n

On the TV side, Golden Globe Awards went to three series released for home entertainment by TCFHE: Showtime\u2019s \u201cHomeland\u201d won as drama series while star Claire Danes won as best actress in a TV drama; \u201cModern Family\u201d won as best TV comedy or musical series; and Jessica Lange was named best supporting actress in a TV series, mini-series or move for \u201cAmerican Horror Story\u201d.<\/p>\n

Former \u201cFriends\u201d star Matt LeBlanc won as best actor in a TV comedy or musical for the BBC sitcom \u201cEpisodes\u201d, shown in the US on Showtime and released on DVD here by BBC Video, which also handles the BBC crime show \u201cLuther\u201d, for which Idris Elba was named best actor in a TV mini-series or movie.<\/p>\n

Kate Winslet won the prize for best actress in a TV mini-series or movie for \u201cMildred Pierce\u201d, released by Warner Home Video, which also has \u201cGame Of Thrones\u201d, for which Peter Dinklage won as best supporting actor in a TV series, mini-series or movie.<\/p>\n

ITV\u2019s \u201cDownton Abbey\u201d, released on home video on the Playback label, won the award for best TV mini-series or movie.<\/p>\n

Laura Dern was named best actress in a TV comedy or musical for HBO\u2019s \u201cEnlightened\u201d and former \u201cFrasier\u201d star Kelsey Grammar won as best actor in a TV drama series for Starz Entertainment\u2019s \u201cBoss\u201d.<\/p>\n
