Other nods went to Michael Haneke as best director and screenwriter, Jean-Louis Trintignant as best actor, Emmuanelle Riva as best actress, and Isabelle Huppert as best supporting actress.<\/p>\n<p>The latest James Bond picture, \u201cSkyfall,\u201d which has been a massive hit for Sony in the UK and elsewhere, picked up five nominations including best British film, best British actor for Daniel Craig, best supporting actor for Javier Bardem, and best supporting actress for Judi Dench, who also was nominated as best British actress for her work on the 007 film and Fox\u2019s \u201cThe Best Exotic Marigold Hotel\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The other nominees for film of the year are \u201cArgo\u201d (Warners),\u00a0\u201cBeasts of the Southern Wild\u201d (StudioCanal) and \u201cLife of Pi\u201d (Fox) and for foreign-language film of the year \u201cHoly Motors\u201d (Artificial Eye), \u201cOnce Upon a Time in Anatolia\u201d (New Wave), \u201cRust and Bone\u201d (StudioCanal) and \u201cTabu\u201d (New Wave).<\/p>\n<p>British film of the year nominees also include \u201cBerberian Sound Studio\u201d (Artificial Eye), \u201cThe Imposter\u201d (Picturehouse\/Revolver), \u201cLes Miserables\u201d (Universal) and \u201cSightseers\u201d (StudioCanal).<\/p>\n<p>Also in contention for the best actor prize are Daniel Day-Lewis for \u201cLincoln\u201d (Fox), Hugh Jackman for \u201cLes Miserables\u201d (Universal), and Mads Mikkelsen for \u201cThe Hunt\u201d (Arrow). Best actress nominees include Jessica Chastain for \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d (Universal), Marion Cotillard for \u201cRust and Bone\u201d (StudioCanal), Helen Hunt for \u201cThe Sessions\u201d (Fox) and<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer Lawrence for \u201cSilver Linings Playbook\u201d (Entertainment).<\/p>\n<p>The London Film Critics\u2019 Circle membership includes more than 120 critics, broadcasters and writers and Chairman Jason Solomons noted that this year\u2019s selections illustrate \u201cthe great variation of extraordinary work\u201d in film over the last year.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cIn all categories, the films are of outstanding quality this year, indicating how the London critics view all films from around the world on a level footing \u2013 brilliance is the only benchmark. Choosing winners will be harder than ever, but never will they have been more deserving.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 33rd London Critics\u2019 Circle Film Awards take place at the May Fair Hotel in London on Sunday Jan. 20 in aid of charity partner Missing People, which provides a 24\/7 lifeline when someone goes missing.<\/p>\n<p>This story appeared in Cue Entertainment.
