{"id":3308,"date":"2013-01-09T11:37:57","date_gmt":"2013-01-09T11:37:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecliffedge.com\/?p=3308"},"modified":"2013-01-12T01:13:03","modified_gmt":"2013-01-12T01:13:03","slug":"lincoln-with-10-tops-bafta-nominations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecliffedge.com\/?p=3308","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Lincoln&#8217; with 10 tops Bafta nominations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/thecliffedge.com\/?attachment_id=3309\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3309\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3309\" alt=\"Lincoln\" src=\"https:\/\/thecliffedge.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/01\/Lincoln.tiff\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>By Ray Bennett<\/p>\n<p>Steven Spielberg\u2019s \u201cLincoln\u201d (pictured) led the British Academy Film Awards nominations with 10 followed by the musical \u201cLes Miserables\u201d and fantasy film \u201cLife of Pi\u201d both with nine.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for \u201cLincoln\u201d, which 20th Century Fox will release in the UK on Jan. 25, included best film, Daniel Day Lewis as leading actor and Sally Field as best supporting actress.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Nods for \u201cLes Miserables\u201d, due in the UK from Universal on Jan. 11, included best film, outstanding British film, Hugh Jackman as leading actor and Anne Hathaway as supporting actress.<\/p>\n<p>Fox\u2019s \u201cLife of Pi\u2019, which is in theatres now, landed nominations that included best film, director for Ang Lee, cinematography, production design and visual effects.<\/p>\n<p>Also nominated as best film were \u201cArgo\u201d, which Warner Bros. will release in the UK on Blu-ray Disc and DVD on March 3, and \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d, due in UK theatres from Universal on Jan. 25.<\/p>\n<p>Spielberg and \u201cLes Miserables\u201d director Tom Hooper missed out on nominations for best director, which besides Lee went to Michael Haneke for the French-language \u201cAmour\u201d, due on video from Artificial Eye on March 18; Ben Affleck for \u201cArgo\u201d, Quentin Tarantino for \u201cDjango Unchained\u201d, which Sony Pictures will release here on Jan. 18; and Kathryn Bigelow for \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>Nominations for outstanding British film besides \u201cLes Miserables\u201d went to \u201cAnna Karenina\u201d, which Universal will release on Blu-ray and DVD on Feb. 4; TCFHE\u2019s \u201cThe Best Exotic Marigold Hotel\u201d, Momentum\u2019s \u201cSeven Psychopaths\u201d, and \u201cSkyfall\u201d from Sony, EON and MGM.<\/p>\n<p>The other leading actor nominations went to Affleck for \u201cArgo\u201d, Bradley Cooper for SPHE\u2019s \u201cSilver Linings Playbook\u201d, and Joaquin Phoenix for \u201cThe Master\u201d, due from Entertainment in Video on March 11. The leading actress nominees were Emmanuel Riva for \u201cAmour\u201d, Helen Mirren for \u201cHitchcock\u201d (due in UK theatres from Fox on Feb. 8), Jennifer Lawrence for \u201cSilver Linings Playbook\u201d, Jessica Chastain for \u201cZero Dark Thirty\u201d and Marion Cotillard for StudioCanal\u2019s French-language \u201cRust and Bone\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Baftas will be presented at the Royal Opera House on Feb. 10.
