(BMI) 2005 London\u00a0Awards ceremony Tuesday night (Nov. 29).<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Hollis, who was a band member of Talk Talk, was on hand to pick up the award that is named for Robert S. Musel, a longtime consultant with BMI in the United Kingdom. The song, published by Universal Music Publishing Ltd., won BMI pop awards in London in 2004 and Los Angeles earlier this year. Hollis is pictured with\u00a0BMI Senior VP Phil Graham (left), BMI President &amp; CEO Del Bryant and Universal Music Publishing&#8217;s Sarah Leber.<\/p>\n<p>Steve Winwood was honoured as a BMI Icon for his 40-year career as a solo artist and with the Spencer Davis Group, Traffic and Blind Faith at the Dorchester Hotel event. Previous recipients include Van Morrison, Paul Simon, Carlos Santana and Dolly Parton.<\/p>\n<p>Annual awards presented by BMI president and CEO Del Bryant and BMI senior vp Phil Graham included College Song of the Year, which went to \u201cRun\u201d by Snow Patrol band members Iain Archer, Nathan Connolly, Gary Lightbody, Mark McClelland and Jonny Quinn. The song is published by Big Life Music Ltd. and Kobalt Music Publishing Ltd.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cListen to Your Heart\u201d, written by Per Gessle and Mats Persson and published by Jimmy Fun Music, won the Dance Award. The song, which originated in 1989 as a hit for Roxette, was remade by Belgium-based D.H.T. and proved a Top 10 hit in the U.S. and a ringtone favorite.<\/p>\n<p>Topping the list of the evening\u2019s Million-Air Awards was \u201cEvery Breath You Take\u201d by Sting, published by GM Summer and EMI Music Publishing Ltd., which passed the eight-million airplay mark in the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Van Morrison\u2019s \u201cBrown Eyed Girl\u201d, Universal Music Publishing Ltd, reached seven million and \u201c(I Can&#8217;t Get No) Satisfaction\u201d by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards and \u201cLayla\u201d by Eric Clapton and Jim Gordon, Warner\/Chappell Music Intl. Ltd., each surpassed six million.<\/p>\n<p>Elton John and Bernie Taupin received seven Million-Air awards, the most of the night, for \u201cDon\u2019t Let the Sun Go Down on Me\u201d (five million airplays); \u201cGoodbye Yellow Brick Road\u201d and \u201cI Guess That&#8217;s Why They Call It the Blues\u201d (four million apiece);\u00a0 \u201cBennie and the Jets\u201d (three million); and \u201cSaturday Night\u2019s Alright for Fighting\u201d, \u201cSomething About the Way You Look Tonight\u201d and \u201cSorry Seems to Be the Hardest Word\u201d (two million each).<\/p>\n<p>Film music awards went to Harald Kloser for \u201cAlien vs. Predator\u201d and \u201cThe Day After Tomorrow\u201d, George Fenton for \u201cHitch\u201d, Harry Gregson-Williams for \u201cMan on Fire\u201d and \u201cShrek 2\u201d, and Rolfe Kent for \u201cMean Girls\u201d and \u201cSideways\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Who\u2019s Pete Townshend picked up three TV Awards for \u201cCSI\u201d, \u201cCSI: Miami\u201d and \u201cCSI: New York\u201d. Other TV Awards went to Christopher Franke for \u201cThe Amazing Race 7\u201d, Stewart Copeland for \u201cDesperate Housewives\u201d, Dain Blair for \u201cExtreme Makeover: Home Edition\u201d, Carim Clasmann and Galia Durant for \u201cGrey\u2019s Anatomy\u201d, and Robert Del Naja, Grantley Marshall and Andrew Vowles for \u201cHouse\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The event at the Dorchester Hotel marked the 65th anniversary of the U.S. royalty collection organisation\u2019s inception.
