By Ray Bennett: Happy 77th birthday to the great Lebanese-French composer Gabriel Yared with thanks for all the splendid film music and fine times at the World Soundtrack Awards. He is on the left in the picture from Gent several years ago with fellow Oscar-winner the late Maurice Jarre and Spanish composer Alberto Iglesias. If you saw Anthony Minghella’s Best Picture-winning movie ‘The English Patient’, what you probably recall most are Kristin Scott-Thomas in the cave, Juliet Binoche as the compassionate nurse and Gabriel’s multi-award winning score. Have a great day, Gabriel.
